Kensworth Vintage & Classic Car Rally

7th September 2008

After nearly nine months organising this year's rally, we were finally defeated by the weather. Having set the rally fields up on Friday in pouring rain, we were hopeful that the site would drain ready for Sunday. It was not to be, the torrential rain turned the rally fields into a mixture of pools and ponds. The entrances could have been used by hippopotamus for wallowing, but we didn't have enough entered to make a class!

We managed to telephone over 400 people on Saturday to save them a wasted journey and sat at the gate on Sunday morning in case anyone came, surprisingly some did. It was suggested that the problem was that this was to have been our 13th Rally; perhaps we should have had a gap year and gone straight to number 14. Anyone who had entered and would like a plaque & program is welcome to send a 9”x 6” SAE and I will oblige.

Rally entry forms are usually sent out around Christmas and by then I will probably be in better humor and ready to start again. It is estimated that this year's non event will show a loss of £600 - £700.

Hope to see you at Kensworth 2009.
